In our world, nothing stays the same for very long. We’re taught to rely on the advice of experts, but their opinions seem to change with the breeze. If you knew that something had remained unchanged for the last twenty-five centuries, and had continued to help people find the peace and joy they were seeking for that entire time, would you be curious?

My philosophy is based on the cornerstones of John Wooden’s Pyramid of Success: work hard, have fun. That philosophy is omnipresent.as I scout opponents, recruit new players, chat with alums, develop new teams, and even as I cultivate solid work relationships. I don’t mind working hard, because I get to do something fun: coach volleyball!

In my freshman year of college I was taking the first level composition class. I was a little nervous because I had heard that taking the class would mean a semester of constant writing, editing, and rewriting. My skills in writing weren’t necessarily the best in the world or even my high school class, but I was truly astonished at the level of ability a few fellow students had as freshman at a university. I do not exaggerate when I say that about forty percent of the students in my class were some of the most terrible writers I’d ever encountered, including jr. high students I was tutoring. I won’t get into too many specifics about their errors, but lets say «2» was used for «to» and fragments outnumbered complete sentences.
So these are just a few ideas of what teachers can do in their classroom to push them into becoming great writers. Don’t forget that students need to be pushed. If they aren’t pushed to be always improving then they won’t improve.
Once you have a starting point, you need to give yourself time to brainstorm and play with ideas. If you started out with a fairly broad focus, then you have to gradually narrow and refine it. In any case, Voldemort and Neitzche are a powerful example of how philosophy can enrich a villain and enrich a story.
